When we hear the name Maryse, the first thing that comes to mind is the wife of the popular Wrestler, “The Miz” – the man with the popular catchphrase “I’m Awesome.” However, she has more in the bag than just being the wife of the host of Miz TV.

Maryse Mizanin (née Ouellet) is a Canadian American professional wrestler, wrestling manager, glamour model, reality star, actress, and businesswoman currently signed to the WWE with the ring name Maryse. Born on January 21, 1983, Maryse moved up the ranks in the world of entertainment, making a name for herself in the process.

Maryse Ouellet: Early Life

Maryse was born in Montreal, Quebec, on January 21, 1983. Maryse is the daughter of Guy Ouellet and Marjolaine Martin. Her parents were Roman Catholics, and she grew up in the Roman Catholic family in Edmundston, New Brunswick, alongside her sister Michelle.

Maryse attended high school in the same town where she was the only girl in her class – pointing to why she has no problem being comfortable with men. Her high school days were nothing short of eventful as she took part in many fashion shows.

She attended Collège Montmorency de Laval, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She always had an eye for the spotlight, which pushed her to get into modeling, where she became the face of various makeup products and features in a lot of beauty parget competitions. At that time, she became the runner-up at the International Finals of Miss Hawaiian Tropic. she also won the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada title in 2003.

The Diva Search

In Mid-2006, Maryse Ouellet was part of the WWE’s Diva Search, where she was eliminated from the top eight positions. This was not the end of her WWE push as she was invited to the WWE’s developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), to observe training and workouts along with Brooke Adams. This prompted her enthusiasm to become a WWE Diva even further.

Her in-ring debut started at a live event at the OVW in December 2006 while she managed Sylvain Grenier at the same time. She later switched to Florida Championship Wrestling, where she made her debut over there in September.

Maryse Ouellet: Television Appearance on the WWE

After her time outside the OVW, she was seen for the first time on WWE Raw in May 2007, where she made a presentation of the music video “Throw it on Me” by Timberland. This was just the beginning as she started having enough screen time on SmackDown in early 2008, where she played heel. Her in-ring debut on SmackDown put a smile on the face of WWE fans even though she lost to Eve Torres, who she later won the next week. She also had a feud with Natalya for the Golden Dreams Championship, in which she was unsuccessful.

Maryse went on to win her first Divas Championship, defeating Michelle McCool in December 2008. On July 26, 2009, she lost the title to Mickie James at the Night of Champions. In 2010, Maryse reached the final tournament for the Divas Championship, where she defeated Brie Bella and Eva Torres, making her the first diva to win the championship twice.

She later lost the title in April at Raw to Eve Torres, and she never captured the title back ever since then. She had a lot going for her in the WWE but outside the ring with many stories, managing a lot of wrestlers alongside. Without much going for her in her in-ring career, she was released from her contract in the WWE by October 2011.

Maryse returned to WWE on April 4, 2016, on the Raw episode after WrestleMania 32 during the Intercontinental title match between her husband The Miz and Zack Ryder – Woo Woo Woo, you know it. She did all she could to distract Ryder, including slapping his father, who sat in the front row to help Miz win the title.

After the draft where the Miz was drafted to SmackDown, Maryse was always coming alongside the Miz, managing him in all his matches against the likes of Kane and John Cena. The Miz and his manager Maryse were drafted once again to Raw in April 2017, where she helped him win his seventh Intercontinental championship against the Lunatic Fringe Dean Ambrose. Maryse got pregnant in September 2017, and she stopped appearing on television.

Modeling and Acting

Maryse also had a lot of modeling time appearing in an issue of Muscle & Fitness in 2009. She also did an interview alongside John Morrison for Eurosport. Another modeling feat of Maryse was appearing on the cover of Sessions Magazine in October 2010.

Maryse Ouellet: Personal Life

Maryse was in a long-term relationship with Mike Mizanin, aka The Miz, for a long time before they got engaged in 2013. They got married on February 20, 2014, in The Bahamas, and they have been married ever since. Since meeting in 2006, the relationship between Mike and Maryse has been in question. Many feel like the relationship was a script from the WWE, but this was clarified with their wedding ceremony and the birth of their first daughter.

The couple has two beautiful daughters. The first daughter Monroe Sky was born in March 2018, while their second, Madison Jade, was born in September 2019. The couple is having a great time on their reality TV series Miz and Mrs., Which premiered on July 24, 2018, on the USA network, and are currently on their second season, which premiered on January 29, 2020.
